Garage Door Repairs

Even if you just use it going to and from work, you open your garage door hundreds of times a year. It’s important to keep the door in proper working order to ensure the safety and security of the rest of the house. If something goes wrong, you should leave it to the experts in garage door repair in Eastport, NY. However, there are still things you can do to avoid waking up to a screeching garage door, or one that won’t open at all.

  • Inspect the hardware
  • Tighten loose brackets and bolts and replace broken rollers and lift cables with broken strands.
  • Maintain springs, chains and seals
  • Keep the chain, springs and screws lubricated to contain noise and reduce wear. If necessary, you should replace the bottom weather seal to prevent leaks, especially if it's visibly dry and brittle. Test the doors periodically from outside the car to note any unusual noises or motion.

Check that the handles, if present, are secure, not wobbly. Tighten the screws to adjust as appropriate so that the handle lifts and opens smoothly.

It’s important to verify that the cable passes through the extension spring and remains bolted tightly to the upper support bracket. Because this is the working part of your garage door, this might be the most important part of your inspection.

Eastport is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 1,831 at the 2010 census.

Eastport straddles the border of the towns of Brookhaven and Southampton.

Eastport is located within the Eastport-South Manor Central School District.

Eastport dates to the 1730s when a gristmill was built there. It started as two hamlets, Seatuck and Waterville, and in the 1850s applied for a post office by the name of Seatuck. It was refused because it was too similar to Setauket, New York. It was renamed Eastport.

In the first half of the 20th century it was the capital of the production of Long Island ducks, producing 6.5 million ducks from 29 farms a year going to market. At one time, the western portion of Eastport, located in the town of Brookhaven, was called "Seatuck", and the eastern portion, located in Southampton, was known as "Waterville". In the last twenty years, practically all duck farms were phased out and the descendants of the original farmers sold the valuable waterfront property for residential development projects.
